Sierra Leone have been surprisingly knocked out of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers on the away goal rule by lowly ranked Chad who are
54 places below them in the FIFA ranking.

Leone Stars bade farewell after they came from behind to defeat Chad 2-1 in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Having lost the first leg 1-0 in N'djamena on 10th October Leone Stars needed to win by two clear goals to overturn the result.

Leger Djimrangar whose goal defeated Leone Stars in the first leg put Chad ahead in stoppage time at the end of the first half before Finland based Abdul Sesay equalised 1-1 in the 70th  minute to register his first International goal.

Sweden based Alhaji 'Andriano' Kamara scored Leone Stars' second goal nine minutes later.

Chad were reduced to ten men in the dying minutes of play.

Leone Stars are forced to host matches out of Sierra Leone because of ebola outbreak.

Chad have now progressed to the second round stage of the qualifiers and will meet seven times African champions Egypt in November.

The match was the second meeting between the two teams.

The defeat has been received with shock and disappointment in Sierra Leone.

The only competition left for Sierra Leone to participate is the on going qualifiers of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as the country has been eliminated in the qualifers of the 2018 World Cup, 2016 CHAN and CAF/Olympic games U-23 tournaments.

Sierra Leone national teams are being controlled by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

Under the current administration led by Isha Johansen Leone Stars A team have played 14 matches, won four, lost seven and drawn three.

The Leone Stars home based team lost two matches to Mauritania in the 2016 CHAN qualifiers and drew two with Guinea in the qualifiers of the 2014 edition.

Sierra Leone has never progressed in football under the leadership of Paul Kamara. I wonder why he is still there. He has been the main cause of Sierra Leone not progressing because of his dictatorship and indiscipline. Shame on him and whoever is keeping him as sports minister.
