Sierra Leonean players in Europe & USA round-up

Alhassan 'Crespo' Kamara in fine form

There are a lot of Sierra Leonean players playing in European leagues and one Sierra Leonean international featuring in the United States Major League Soccer (MLS).sierraleonefootball.com gives a round-up of the weekend performances of most of these players with the exception of those playing in Azerbaijan whose teams are scheduled to play Monday and Tuesday.

Azerbaijan

Monday 24/09/12

Converted left back Sheriff Suma and defensive midfielder Samuel Barlay were on the winning side as FK RÉ™van registered a 3-1 away victory over FK Qabala. 

The Leone Stars first team players were not on the score sheet but both played the entire game. They are regular starting players in their club.

The other Sierra Leonean in the club Sallieu Bundu who is an attacker didn’t play and was not even on the bench.

Another Sierra Leonean international in Azerbaijan is Julius Gibrilla Woobay who was unlucky to be on the losing side.

He played the entire game but was unable to save his team Neftçi PFC from a 3-2 away defeat to FK Sumqayıt.

Neftçi PFC are seventh in the league table two places ahead of FK RÉ™van. 

Sweden
 
Sierra Leonean international Alhassan 'Crespo' Kamara who is in fine form scored a goal to save his side Örebro from defeat in the Swedish top flight league on Saturday.
 
The 19 year-old striker found the back of the net in the second minute of stoppage time to equalise 2-2 after Syrianska FC had taken the lead 2-1 in 72nd minute.
 
Kamara's goal marked his second in his third appearance since joining the Örebro on loan a month ago and his third consecutive goal in the last three weeks after goals against Kalmar FF in the Swedish league and Tunisia in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Freetown.
 
Örebro are in 15th position in Swedish league table with 15 points from 23 games and they are in the relegation zone.
 
Strikers Alhaji 'Andriano' Kamara and  Ibrahim K. Fofanah as well as midfielder Mohamed Kamanor are yet still to make their first appearance for DjurgÃ¥rden IF who went down 3-0 at home to BK Häcken on Friday.
 
Fofanah is still recovering from a broken leg injury he sustained when he was playing for Kallon FC during a Sierra Leone Premier League match earlier in the year. Djurgården IF are currently seventh in the Allsvenskan standings.
 
Mohamed 'Poborsky' Bangura continues to enjoy full time football since his return to AIK Solna from Scottish club Celtic last month. He played the entire match in AIK Solna?s 2-2 away draw to IFK Norrköping on Sunday.  
 
In the Swedish fourth tier league David Simbo's Boden BK defeated Tegs 2-1 to climb to fifth position in the 12 teams table on Sunday. 

Monday 24/09/12

Ibrahim ‘Marcel’ Koroma played full time as his side Trelleborg FF lost 2-1 at home to Halmstad BK in Superettan, the Swedish second tier league on Monday.

Trelleborg FF are in th14th position in the 16 teams’ table, one place above the relegation zone.

 

The Sierra Leonean international defender has now made 17 league appearances this season scoring two goals.

 
Norway
 
Fredikstad BK won 1-0 away to Stabaek in Eliteserien to move to 13th position in the standings just two place above the relegation zone.
 
Sierra Leonean international midfielder Khalifa Jabbie only had nine minutes of action for Fredrikstad FK as he came in as substitute in the 81st minute. He has now made 19 league appearances.
 
Umaru 'Zingalay' Bangura's FK Haugesund registered a 3-2 home win over Sandnes ULF on Sunday. The Sierra Leonean international defender played the entire game to mark his 22nd appearance in Eliteserien this season. FK Haugesund have now moved up to 7th position in the table.
 
Germany
 
In the German Bundesliga, defender Gibril 'Barel' Sankoh was on the losing side as Augsburg lost away 2-0 to Mainz 05.
 
Sankoh who made his debut for Leone Stars against Tunisia three weeks ago played the entire game. Augsburg are in relegation zone in 17th position in the 18 teams table.
 
Turkey
 
Ibrahim Teteh Bangura continues to struggle to get a regular playing time as he played for just three minutes in his side Bursaspor 1-1 away draw to Elaziaspor on Sunday.
 
The 22-year old has only been able to enjoy 113 minutes of action so far this season, he has played four games, three coming off the bench and the other he was on the pitch throughout. Bursaspor are now 8th in the Turkish Süper Lig.
 
On Saturday, Sanliurfaspor defeated Kartalspor at home in the Turkish second tier league. Midfielder Alfred 'Zagalo' Sankoh was on the pitch for the winning side for the entire match. He has been enjoying a regular playing time as he has now played four league games since joining Sanliurfaspor in August. They are now in 8th place in the 18 teams' competition.
 
England
 
Defender Mustapha Dumbuya who is yet to make his debut for Leone Stars played full time in his side Portsmouth's 3-0 away loss to Notts County on Saturday.
 
Dumbuya has been playing regularly since joining the English League One club from Doncaster Rovers in August. But his team are struggling to make impact as they are in the relegation zone.
 
He was on the bench in Leone Stars? last two 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in Freetown against Sao Tome & Principe and Tunisia respectively.
 
Alhassan 'Ayala' Bangura helped Forest Green Rovers to a 2-1 away win over Macclesfield Town to see them moved to second spot in the table on Saturday.
 
The former English Premier League midfielder who has played for Leone Stars only one time played for full time and has now featured in seven out ten of his club's league games this season. He has played a total of 338 minutes.
 
The clubs of two Sierra Leonean international Ahmed Deen and Albert Jarrett registered victories in the English FA Cup on Saturday.
 
Left back Deen's Thurrock FC, a non League Premier side won 2-1 against Horsham whist attacking midfielder Jarrett's South Conference league club Bromley FC won 1-0 away to Sutton United.
 
Finland
 
Striker Sam Obi Metzger Jr. was in the starting line-up for his Finnish top tier League club Valkeakosken Haka but was taken off the pitch in the 61st minute as they drew goalless with Jaro FF at home on Sunday. It was his 19th league appearance this season.
 
Midfielder Hassan 'Milla' Sesay, a regular starting player for MYPA didn't play in his club's 2-0 away loss to KUPS. He was not on the bench either. Haka are just one place above the relegation zone whilst MYPA are in 5th position.
 
Cyprus
 
Mustapha 'Hadji' Bangura remains on the sidelines because he?s yet to fully recover from an injury. His new club AEK Larnaca secured a 1-0 away victory over Omonia Nicosia to register maximum points from three games. Only goals separated AEK Larnaca and league leaders Apoel FC.
 
Italy
 
Rodney Strasser is still nursing an injury and therefore he didn't play a role in his side AC Milan's 2-1 away loss at to Udinese on Sunday.
 
The Rossoneri are really struggling as they've managed to register only three oints in four games and are unbelievable in 15th position in the Serie A table.
 
USA
 
In the USA Major League Soccer (MLS), Kei Kamara's Sporting Kansas City played to a goalless draw away to Montreal Impact but remain on top of their conference zone table.
 
The Leone Stars striker played full time and the match came three days after he scored a goal in his club's 2-0 victory against Thierry Henry's New York Red Bulls.
 
It was his 11th goal of this MLS season and the highest number of goals he has ever scored in a season.
 
France

Goalkeeper Solomon Zombo Morris was not even on the bench when he side FC Rouen played to a goalless draw at home to Paris FC in the French third tier league.

The 22 year old who was on the bench for Leone Stars against Tunisia earlier this month has not been given a single league game this season and he's third choice goalkeeper at the club who are ninth in the standings.
  
Montenegro
 
In the Montenegro top flight league, striker Lamin Suma's club FK Jedinstvo won 1-0 against FK Mogren to move up to 7th position in the 12 teams league table.
 
Moldova
 
Abu Tommy's FC Tiraspol played to a goalless draw away to FC Iskra-Stal Ribnita to move to 5th position in the Moldova highest league.


Serbia

Sunday 23/09/12

The only Sierra Leone player playing in the Serbia top flight league Mohamed ‘Medo’ Kamara is having a regular playing time at Partizan. 

He was on the pitch to help his side to a 5-0 home win over Sloboda Užice to go top of the league table. The Sierra Leonean international was taken off the pitch five minutes to the end.
